JITU FILMS LAUNCHES ANTI PIRACY PRICES

Jitu Films have taken the first step in killing the piracy underworld by selling their movies at a super affordable price this month.
All their DVDs will be sold only for Ksh30 in all Nakumatt supermarkets countrywide. This is the chance for someone to get all our five films Selfish?, Chasing Moses, Zeinabu Rudi Nyumbani, R2 Security and Mob Doc for only pocket Ksh150.

Alex Konstantaras said, “This is a limited offer and only for July in order to celebrate the fact that our DVDs will be sold in seven new Nakumatt outlets: City Hall, Moi Avenue, Eldoret, Kakamega, Nanyuki, Nyali and Diani. Also we are hoping that through the high sales we can attract companies in order to advertise on our DVDs, a popular advertising method that is not explored here in Kenya yet. Similar offers are coming with other leading Super market chains and also with new DVDs.”

KENYAN FILMS SCREENED IN RWANDAN FILM FESTIVAL

For the second year running, Jitu Films have been nominated for awards at the annual Rwandan film festival. Last year, Jitu had four movies entered in the competition and the banned horror film Otto the bloodbath won the award for the best East African Film of 2009. This year, the two films being featured are Chasing Moses which was featured in the Thessaloniki Film Festival last November, and Selfish? - the first feature film by Hawa Essuman.
Hawa will also be represented in the festival by her latest film Soul boy which will be the film of the closing ceremony. Chasing Moses revolves around Moses, a poor disabled breadwinner, who is out in the slums trying to earn some money to feed his family.
Selfish? follows the lives of two women, Angela, an advertising executive and Mercy, a part time model. Both fall pregnant and choose different paths. All the Kenyan films will compete for the award of the best East African Film together with entries from Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania. The 6th Rwanda film festival is scheduled for July 11-22 and the screening dates of the movies will be announced soon.

FREE PREMIER OF KENYAN THRILLER

On Monday, Kenyan movie enthusiast will get a chance to catch the premier of The Devil Dentist another Jitu Production at the Alliance Francaise.
This is the second thriller movie from the movie house after the five-year ban of Otto: The Blood Bath.
The film has a star-studded cast like veteran actor David Mulwa Irenne Njugunna, Boniface Loppoh, Brenda Mwai, Philip Chege, Alexandros Konstantaras and Taj Methu.
The storyline follows the life of a successful Kenyan dentist, about to seal a big deal with Crystal gold, a multinational dental company. But when the deal goes bad the dentist decides to take revenge by using a secret formula that holds supernatural powers.
Just so you know, the entrance is free.

KENYAN FILM SHOWN IN GREEK FESTIVAL

A Jitu Films production was screened at the European Film Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece on Wednesday 18. Chasing Moses is the only African movie being screened at the 50th edition of the festival on the Digital Wave section that supports young and upcoming filmmakers who make use of the digital technology. The movie was shot on location in Kibera slum and Olorigesaille.
The film’s director Alexandros Konstantaras says he will bring in a few Kenyan and Congolese students from the Thessaloniki University where his father teaches chemistry to experience a Kenyan movie. So far Kenyan actress Lizz Njagah has also participated in the screening of the movies at the festival that started last Friday.
