A one hour forty five minutes movie that features eleven young people who go for a get away to the house of one of their own when the parents are away for four days. They engage in all manner of things; alcoholism, negative peer pressure, promiscuity, violence and the like. However, at the end of the movie a solution is provided and there is forgiveness, reconciliation and healing.
Directed by Martin Ndichu, Bizzare premiered on December 20 at Jubilee Christian Church, Ngara. But there will be a coctail launch on Valentine’s Day as a yet to be announced venue.
This is the first movie shoot by the church whose overseer is Rev. Allan Kiuna
The aim of the movie is to project hope despite the numerous vices that exist in society.
The cast members of the movie are part of the Christian based group Zinduka International.
The movie will be available at all major outlets for Sh1000.

SISQO DANCERS THRILL AT BOND GIRL CALENDAR LAUNCH

The launch of the 2010 Campari Milano calendar which is an exclusive calendar with only 9099 copies printed was headlined by budding professional dancers, Sisqo.
The launch that was held at the Tribe Hotel in December revealed a picture story by world famous seductive actress Olga Kurylenko, the shots are set in Milan, where the Campari tradition has its origin. Olga represents the different sides of the Campari woman embodied in each shot.
Olga came to international fame as the character ‘Camille’ in the most recent James Bond film Quantum of Solace, which followed her success in films as diverse as Paris Je T’Aime, The Ringfinger, Max Payne and Hitman. She returns to the big screen in 2010 in the action adventure film Centurion, by Neil Marshall, and in the leading role in the Franco-Israeli thriller Kirot. She also will be seen starring in the role of ‘Ildiko’ Roland Joffe’s latest film There Be Dragons, currently filming in Argentina. Her future projects include a leading role in an yet untitled Terrence Malick project.

The Campari Milano edition is Campari’s eleventh calendar. In this set, the audience follows Olga as the city reveals itself little by little, and together with Campari creating the setting for every shot.

HUGH MASEKELA FOR KENYAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Hugh Masekela was briefly in the country on behalf of African Leadership Academy (ALA) last month.
Hugh performed at the ALA Champions Dinner event, a small private event at Serena Hotel. He was accompanied by one band member, the piano player. ALA is a non-profit organization, the aim of this event is to try and get some financial support from Kenya.
The African Leadership Academy as an institution which has as its mission to develop the next generation of African Leaders. Leaders, who will be agents of positive and ethical change across the continent. ALA is a pan-African “A” level institution that enrolled the first class of 97 students from across Africa in September 2008.
These promising students from all ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds were joined by the second class this August, bringing the total to just under 200 future African leaders representing 41 nationalities (from an applicant pool of over 2500!)
Students at ALA qualify on their own merit to fit our criteria of academic excellence, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, passion for Africa, and commitment to public service.

DJ LAST BORN TO START DJ ACADEMY AND ENTERTAINMENT UNIT

DJ Last Born who cut his teethe with reggae outfit Black Supremacy and formed his own outfit named after him has renamed his own entertainment unit and called Supreme Entertainment.
“He changed the name because he felt that it was to subjective. It’s like the unit was all about him and he wanted to change that school of thought and encompass all the other people he was working with,” his manager Cate Mukei said. “DJ Last Born is now past petty local shows and at this level the least he can do locally is co-operate functions and that’s why he changed the name of the company from Lastborn to Supreme Entertainment illustrating how major this will be.”
The change of name that was made two months ago is still yet to fall in place with DJ Last Born’s other plans for the unit.
“He is looking for good location for the DJ academy and once that has been bagged it will set off all the other mechanisms where he plans to sell his mix tapes and facilitate for his gig bookings online.”
He has joined forces with DJ Selekta Technic in his endeavours.
Meanwhile the DJ is set to perform in Stuttgart, Germany on November 28 alongside Nazizi, Wyre and Mr Lenny then head over to Norway and Finland on December 3 and 4 respectively.

KAONE BRANDED A ROLE MODEL IN BOTSWANA

Botswana fans who have meet the Big Brother housemate Kaone Ramontshonyana are impressed by his down to earth nature and most agree that he is the humble guy from next door.
Kaone who has become quite the celebrity. At a past party, Kaone warmed up to the revellers, he even went behind the counter and served them with a few drinks and signed autographs.
When he was addressing his followers from the DJ's box, he described himself as a guy from the hood. To most he is considered a role model more so because he kept his cool when he was in the reality show, which was why many of his countrymen were utterly disappointed when he was evicted from the house.

JUA CALI AND NONINI GET AWARDED ABROAD

King Of Genge Juacali received an achievement award from the Kenya Embassy in Germany, Jikaze Women's Association and The Kenya-German community to crown his success in the country. Meanwhile, the God Father of Genge Nonini was awarded with the award of an International Lifestyle Ambassador of Limkowing International University in Malaysia last weekend.
The award is in line with the University’s efforts to build the skills of the youths, particularly in the area of new technology, of Sound and Music, Film and Television and other creative courses.
Other top-notch celebrities who have won this award include Mel Gibson, Bruce Davey and Eric Way (Sex and the City).

THE REAL DEAL ON THE ERIC-SHEBA-VALERIE LOVE TRIANGLE

The very successful run of Mo Faya musical ended on a high but that cannot be said of the marriage between show’s author and creative director Eric Wainania and his wife Sheba Hirst.
Eric and Sheba who have for the long time presented the face of a happily married couple are reported to have gone their separate ways. And now their families are attempting to resolve the differences between the couple in the hopes that they will re-unite. Sheba is said to have moved out of their matrimonial home near State House to live with her parents on Thika Road.
Simon Wainaina, Eric’s only sibling, best man and manager said, “There has been serious family interventions on both sides to try and salvage this union and also safeguard the interest of the children already born.” Eric and Sheba have two daughters — a four year old and the last one who was born just two months ago.
It seems that the successful rehearsals of the musical as well as its very successful run as an off-Broadway production in New York gave rise to reports that the show’s leading actors Eric and Valerie Kimani became romantically linked. Sheba was the executive producer of Mo Faya, a venture that was sponsored by Safaricom to the tune of Sh11.6 million.
This week, Valerie confirmed she is two months pregnant and said she was “looking forward to being a happy mum. I’m not hiding that I’m pregnant. I’m in my first trimester.”
As for her baby’s daddy, Valerie said “I’m not interested in discussing my bedroom issues in public.”
She has no plans to slow down yet as her baby bump is yet to show. “The pregnancy fits in perfectly with my plan to hit the studio to record my second album to be released by Gallo Records.”
The singer who has yet to gain acceptance in the popular music scene since she won the Tusker Project Fame prize three years ago had the parting shot: “I don’t mind that people will be looking at me funny. They have been ever since l won the TPF.”
